How about merging a few of the sub-forums like including Golf and Tennis in Other sports and one for Football, Baseball and Hockey like at PF? I almost missed the Gardening thread since I didn't scroll down far enough and I'm so used to just clicking the New Posts functionality at PF.com.

Is there a New Posts functionality that I haven't found? There is a Recent Posts that could do but the New Posts functionality is better.
Also might be a good idea to only have registered members being able to post.

Yes, the "Recent Posts" functionality is what is available.
As for whether some of the categories should be merged, I'll leave this open for a few days and see how others feel. I don't want to make changes to the structure without a few more opinions.

Ok, regarding guests being able to post.
Here's the issue.
Due to the way I set up this board, I created "categories", not sub-boards. For "categories", I can either change access so that only registered members can view it, or everyone can view it.
Had I created a several "boards" instead of categories, I could have set up access so everyone can view, but only registered members can post.
If people want, I can reset and restructure everything to "board". That would mean losing the content that's already on here.
I didn't know what the difference between categories and boards were.

Where did you find the "Recent Posts" button? I can't find it. I've seen it on other Pro Boards though. Can you take a screen shot?
Thanks.

I agree that lowering the number of categories would reduce scrolling and make it easier to navigate.

I think it's now or never with switching from categories to sub forums. I would be in favor.

Weird, because the other Pro Board has a link at the top for "Recent Posts".

Done, I was able to add a "Recent Posts" to the header navigation.
This was possible because there's already a built-in URL for recent posts.

Seriously, switch to sub forums which allow more control. The sooner the better, while there are not that many posts lost.

@bill No forum expert but think nuraman stated the difference below. To me it looks like sub forums allow control/permissions of each independently and categories do not. Ok, regarding guests being able to post. Here's the issue. Due to the way I set up this board, I created "categories", not sub-boards. For "categories", I can either change access so that only registered members can view it, or everyone can view it. Admin, what do you think of adding a category for "Fantasy Sports" in the "General" section?

Seriously, switch to sub forums which allow more control. The sooner the better, while there are not that many posts lost. They should be subforums. I mistakenly thought they weren't, but it looks like within each category, I did create subforums. So I just had to change the permissions settings on each subforum to only allow registered members to post or create polls.
