IFor better or worse here it is. What to expect? If they can get to a any Bowl game this year I'll be happy. Dantonio needs to set realistic expectations. No crap about winning the Big title or these guys will fold after two losses. I'm guessing six on the poll but that may be optimistic. Health, future felonies, etc. will all be factors.

Let's see. The 12-game schedule looks like this:
Bowling Green Western Michigan Notre Dame Iowa at Michigan at Minnesota Indiana at Northwestern Penn State at Ohio State Maryland at Rutgers
I'm going to guess 7-5. I have no reason or rationale. Michigan and Ohio State on the road look like automatic losses. Some success in early games could give the Spartans some momentum and mojo.

I have no reason or rationale. Michigan and Ohio State on the road look like automatic losses. Some success in early games could give the Spartans some momentum and mojo. I might be a bit optimistic, but I can see 8 wins there. Throw out @ U of M and @ Ohio State, there's 10 wins left. Worst case scenario is probably 4 or 5 wins (Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Indiana, Maryland, @ Rutgers). Win those 5 and 3 out of these 5 (Notre Dame, Iowa, @ Minnesota, @ Northwestern, Penn State). However, I have my own newly founded bias with an even more optimistic scenario: I can see the Spartans starting strong winning their first four home games with close wins vs. Iowa and ND. They play a hard-fought game and lose a tough one in the Big House by 10-14 points (not a blow-out but not a nail-biter). Go on the road again next week against the new "Row the Boat" team and demonstrate their resilience. Clean up the next couple games and then lose their only home game to a strong Penn State team. Get their asses handed to them by OSU and finish the season with a couple of blow-out wins. Not winning the Big Ten, but make a solid bowl game (whatever that is). I think games 3 and 4 will be a good predictor for the rest of the season. If they can be competitive with Iowa and ND, they shouldn't be as bad as they were last year. If they are a shell of themselves again, we might be in for a long season. At the end of the day, I wouldn't bet against Dantonio.

Adversity can sometimes galvanize a team. I'm thinking about the UM basketball run last year after the plane crash. Same could happen with MSU.

But as you know the situations were quite different. The M team was innocent of wrongdoing and they were really good prior to the accident. MSU is coming off a horrendous season. Maybe D'antoni will work his magic, my experience are low and the schedule might be the toughest in the nation. Pizza Bowl sounds good to me. Then in 2018 they bounce back.

I see Bowling Green and WMU as (better be) for sure. Add Rutgers. 3-0. Indiana and Maryland are better than 50/50. So 5-0 Losses to Penn, OSU, and M. 5-3 That leaves N.D., Minnesota, and Iowa. Out of those 3 they need one game assuming no upsets either way in the other games (unless they balance out both ways. I think of the 3 "maybes" they can win one. That makes them 6-6. Being in the B1G they will get a halfway decent lower mid-tier Bowl. It took them one year to go from the penthouse to the outhouse. It will take longer to get "good" again. I think the Cousins, Cook, Bell, etc. days were the golden years and while I think Dantonio makes them relevant again I don't know if we will see any more top ten years.

Lot of offensive screw ups in the BG game today, some directly on Dantonio. The D looked decent. Not sure why Dantonio put Terry in for the one series. deWeaver deserves time in the backup spot.
The UM game in AA might be fun. At #11, I think they are highly overrated right now. Will be paying attention to the Florida game to confirm how bad they are.

Those uniforms are brutally awful If you wear sunglasses, it's okay. Don't look directly at the UM uniforms, though. It's like watching the eclipse. It could be dangerous.

L.J. Scott cost MSU 17 points. 7 on the fumble on the one, 3 when BG scored as a result, and 7 on the 2nd fumble where BG ran it back and scored. So MSU 35 BG and their star Scott 10. Without Scott, all things being equal MSU 42-BG 0
Yes, BG is a MAC team and a very bad one at that. But S needed a win in the worst way. It's pathetic but MSU fans have to be happy. WMU is another team S is supposed to handle but they will be a bigger test and then on to the "real" teams.
S fans should be really happy with Lewerke. He ran well among other things. Well, it's a start.

Yikes. I didn't know that about WMU. Good. Should serve as a nice test.
Speaking of USC...did you guys know they have a player on their team that is 100% blind? Their long snapper. Way cool! A

MSU no longer plays in the Big Ten. They now play under the Big Top. Well, no need to send in the clowns. They've already performed juggling the football. Looks like it may be another long year.

I have tried to think of what the Spartans can do to win this game. Basically, all I can come up with is M beating itself with turnovers and S taking advantage.People forget S dominated every category but special teams in the miracle botched punt game. I expect M to dominate and S needing great play abd the breaks. Won't happen. Hope S sticks around until halftime.

Great start. With 2 minutes left in the 1st quarter: MSU 7 UM 3
