Interesting, back in 1850 a Giles Lavender married Anne Pierson near Opequon, Va. that's as far back as Ancestry.com goes. Opequon is maybe 10 mi. from D.C. But she married Harry Nation later but used the Lavender surname instead. Mother's side.
