From what I've read, it seems the 2nd wife has some issues. In addition to having the will changed as he was on his death bed to give her everything, she wouldn't even allow his kids to visit their dad during the final days. I haven’t read up on it but I’m sure they can challenge the new will. Sounds like a classic case of “undue influence”.

Googled him because I didn’t know who he was. That’s a terrible man, IMO, if that will and marrow stuff is true. Curious. What interested you about him to make you want to read his story? Were you a fan? Did you watch TNT games in the past 18 years? He was usually on the sidelines for 1 game during a multi game TNT day. I think you said you don't have cable. How long have you been without cable? "Fan" isn't the right word. I wanted to read his story because I knew he lived a life in the sports industry, being a sideline reporter. And combine that with his cancer. There's also not many times I've read about someone sports related who was current. As opposed to someone who has been out of sports for 10-60 years.

No, he didn't phrase it like that. With regards to meeting Stacy, he transitioned it by saying "his first marriage was falling apart". For the 2nd bone marrow transplant, most of that was written from Sager Jr.'s point of view. There wasn't any hostility in those chapters. At the time of the writing, Sager Jr. talked about how this helped him have an even stronger connection with his dad, and how he enjoyed that. As for the inheritance stuff, it's possible Sager gifted his older kids stuff before he died. It's also possible he felt his adult kids were established, so he wanted to focus on the two younger ones. According to tweets, Sager Jr. says he didn't want anything from the inheritance either. But then this next tweet says the timing of the will change bothered him: Not sure what to think right now. Let's see how these latest developments progress. Could be the kids are just choosing to take the high road. You found some good stuff though. I usually stay pretty even keeled especially when it comes to commenting on celebrities, but something just kind of struck a nerve on this one. It's been hard to find conclusive info but it don't look good. Yeah. I didn't notice this when reading the book, but have become more aware of it over the past 1 - 2 days. It seems that he started dating his 2nd wife before the divorce was over. As I said, when reading the book, he sort of transitioned it by saying "his first marriage was falling apart". Combine that with how often he's on the road, and I didn't think much of it at the time. Now, I don't know what "dating" involved before the divorce was over. Perhaps there were some boundaries set until the divorce was over. Perhaps it was very casual. But I don't know. The only other thing I can think of, with regard to the inheritance and will, is perhaps he wanted the 2nd wife to have more possessions to help pay for the medical bills. Maybe he figured she could sell some things, or something. In an ideal world, I'd hope the remaining family could find a peaceful and happy resolution, and not have discord among themselves.

Interesting that when reading the book, Sager Jr. wrote stuff too regarding near the end of Sager's life. But this wasn't mentioned.

Ok, I just want to point out a more positive aspect of Sager. These negative developments will continue, but how about something positive for a change.
He talked about how he'd carry his first child, Kacy, to her kindergarten class. They would laugh on the way to class every day. He said he looked forward to that every school morning.
The teacher told him that she wouldn't learn her independence if he kept carrying her to class.
Sager then responded that perhaps the teacher should worry about the parents that didn't pay enough attention to their kids.
The school principal and teachers got together and discussed the issue. They then issued an apology.
I liked reading that story, because I knew with his future jobs, he'd have less time for his kids. So it was nice to see a period of time when he was more available.

I don’t know if you were being sarcastic. Regardless, if by watching TNT games you are referring to basketball games, cable or not, I haven’t wtched a pro basketball game since 2005. It bores me and I don’t like the NBA in general. I do keep track of college basketball occasionally, especially this year, but have viewed little. I was an avid Pistons fan from 1979-1991 and watched them in the 2004 finals and then all year in 2005. So even IF I did see that guy I have no recollection of him.

Your story reminds me a little of SuperPadre from the ESPN Spurs boards. I asked him one time why he never posted on the MLB Padre boards. He said the steroids era turned him off of MLB. Yet here was in 2010 and 2011, with a SN that still referred to a MLB team, even though he had long since abandoned the sport. And here you are, on a message board named after the Pistons, even though you've abandoned the NBA. In both of these cases, I guess it's about the message board community that keeps people coming back.

Yeah. I signed up with Rascoe the day he opened shop. I was hanging around the Detroit News board for a few months prior to that. I lost interest in the NBA about a year afterwards but I stuck around because of guys like slippy, Jammer, Motown, Linwood, and others.

Well, Jammer left although I maintained email contest with him a bit. Slippy, Mo, and Linwood all made caneo apparences. I planned to meet with Linwood in Seattle when I attended an Eagles game vs. the Seahawks but I was very ill and the family went without me. I miss them all.I used to banter with all but Mo. Good eggs!! Wish I had time to say adios. Rascoe emailed me a couple months ago and I tknew he wouldn’t but hinted how he would be quite welcome here and could really boost attendance.

1. I’m about 2/3 through Lamb by Christopher Moore. It is the Gospel according to Biff, Christ’s best childhood pal. It is LOL funny and guaranteed non-offensive to anyone. The author received no complaints. This is pretty much the consensus for Moore’s best book. I liked his Shakespeare books even more because I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe. All this month the book is on sale for $1.99. In addition to the books mentioned I read two othersby him. One was dumb, IMO and the other was “good”. Just personal tastes but you cannot go wrong with Lamb. Funny and endearing. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000OVLK2W2. Probably wasting my breath on this also. But book one Still Life is $1.99 TODAY ONLY. This is the mystery series I keep talking about. Violence isn’t graphic and minimal swearing (usually comical). A small town with a very funny and kooky supporting cast. Best read in order. I’ve read books 3-10 so far. After book 13 I’ll go back and read the first two. Won more Agatha Christie awards than any other author I believe. IMO she is better than Agatha, but if Christie is up your alley, you’ll love Louise Penny! www.amazon.com/Still-Life-Inspector-Gamache-Mystery-ebook/dp/B001OLRMZA

:’-( I like reading about what you're reading. So please, keep them up. Also, I had that long post I attempted back in December. When I hit submit, the server was down. I haven't wanted to re-type it yet. But that post did say what type of books I read. You might have liked it, and been able to give me a good recommendation. Or at least liked knowing what I read.
