This was about the Miracle On Ice, but told from the Russian point of view.
It gave the history on Russian hockey, and interviewed several players from that Russian National team, as well as Russian journalists.
The last few minutes were spent on Gorbachev's glasnost leading to a Russian player, Fetisov, finally playing in the NHL.
Fetisov did struggle though for several years, trying to get released from the Russian army. They kept saying no, and that prevented him from playing in the NHL.
Then when he won the Stanley Cup with the Red Wings, he asked commissioner Gary Bettman if he could take the Stanley Cup to Russia.
Bettman said no, too many criminals.
Finally he relented, and Moscow got to see a Russian player with the Stanley Cup.
Great documentary, since it was told from the Russian side, and their perspective on hockey in Russia, and the 1980 Olympics too.

I'm familiar with most of that. But the Russians are so uptight they disgust me. When you read about how they treated their soldiers or others, kulaks, boyers etc.

Maybe that's why some of them wanted to be released from the army, so they could play in the NHL.
