Congrats on Miguel Cabrera. The next person to get to 3000 hits probably hasn't played in the majors yet.

I think the NL will win, but I want Cabrera to be the MVP.
I guess I'll go with AL, Cabrera MVP, and Corvette.

was Cabrera in the HR derby ? No. Pujols was. Both Pujols and Cabrera were "Legacy Picks" for the All-Star game. I wanted Cabrera to win MVP of the AS game. The broadcasting was horrible for Cabrera's AB. Right when he came to pinch hit, they had a split screen, and showed David Ortiz talking to guys in the AL dugout. I don't care about him hamming it up with the AL guys. Show me the AB for Cabrera, uninterrupted, so I can focus on what was going to be his last All-Star appearance.

And who is the Soto guy ? That was a near miss ?

Juan Soto was on the Nationals when they won the title in 2019.
The Nationals signed him as an international free agent to the minor leagues in 2015.
So maybe not a lot of other teams saw much in him either. Or maybe he just really wanted to sign with the Nationals, because they seemed to have the most promising route to the MLB.
Not sure which.
Soto's stats through the age of 22 have him comparing to Mike Trout and Ken Griffey Jr.

Juan Soto traded to the Padres.
The Padres offensive lineup looks good. Their pitching doesn't look as good, but overall, they are really going for it.

They've traded away Trea Turner, Max Scherzer, let Bryce Harper leave, and traded away Juan Soto.
That sucks.
