Well, only 9 days left until the MLB trade deadline. The Tigers have already dealt JD Martinez to Arizona for 3 infield prospects.
Detroit only trails division leader by 5.5 games but they are getting hammered tonight and not really shown they have what it takes to make a run.
Who does Al Avila deal next? Justin Wilson and Alex Avila have been the most popular names.
Today, the hot topic was Ian Kinsler to Milwaukee.
Who do you think the Tigers should trade?

Is Avila cold blooded enough to trade Avila?
Avila and Wilson are sort of found money for us. We didn't expect either of them to have trade value at the start of the year.
It's seriously time to dump every player that isn't a stud on a rookie or price controlled contract.

I was looking at the D-backs page and J.D. has only batted three times since going there. Looks like there is still some interest in Verlander (Astros, Brewers, Cubs) as long as Detroit picks up some of that monstrous salary. I would hate to see JV go, but it's time for everyone to go except for maybe Fulmer.

I wonder if the Kershaw injury might have the Dodgers dialing Al Avila about JV.

Guess what? Rondon sucks! It's amazing how easy it is for us to see that, but Al Avila and Brad Ausmus cannot.

Ripping it up is what Dumars did, how did that work out ? But who on our team is P/O quality ? I wouldn't give up on Kinsler.

We have guys like Miggy, Victor, and JV that are on huge long-term contracts that are underperforming. If these guys have average years, we are in the playoff race. Instead, we are stuck with few bargaining options.

Happy for Ivan Rodriguez today as he enters the Hall of Fame. He earned 13 Gold Gloves in 21 years. Despite the PED rumors, I'm OK with his induction. I believe he's earned it.

Yeah, this franchise never learned from past mistakes (Jeremy Bonderman, Gary Sheffield, Dontrelle Willis, Prince Fielder, Bobby Higginson, just to name a few bad contracts).

Al Avila became the first GM in 50 years to trade his son. Way to go!
You'd think that he could have traded more than JDMart, Wilson, and Avila though. Was he really dealt a hand that was that horrible?
It looks like they nabbed a good prospect from the Cubs that is slotted to be our future third baseman... which would then move Castellanos to first.... which would then move Miggy to DH... which would happen when VMart's contract expires.

Unless we just flat out release VMart after the season and move the process along. We have enough 3B in the minor league pipeline now to move Nick off the hot corner. Perhaps he could play some outfield or share some 1B/DH duties with Miggy.

From the FreePress:
A week ago, Michael Fulmer told reporters: “I hope we go all out. I hope we don’t kind of sell a few guys here. I hope we get younger … . I just want to win. That’s my main priority.”
Then, the Tigers sold a few guys. That’s it. And they don’t seem closer to winning.
