Feel free to discuss anything that goes in your tummy. Good beer, bad beer, fast food, slow food, BBQ.

I love IPAs. We did a beer making program at the library. The presenter showed how to make beer and gave us some samples that he made the day before. I learned to love IPAs at the library.

You and the rest of America. It seems whenever you go to the bar, half of what they have on tap is an IPA. I had a double IPA the other day, too. I'll drink it, of course. It's beer, after all.

I tried one. It wasn't from that list. I didn't like it. Maybe I'll try one of these.

Corner store got Founders Backwoods Bastard (seasonal) a couple days ago. Having one now watching the Pistons opener. Very tasty. Like KBS, it is suppose to get better with age. So good, it's gonna be tough to tuck a few bottles away (comes in 4-packs...$16.99) for a year. 11.2% ABV sipping brew.

So far, barrel aged beers haven't been the type that I crave or think are special.

Arbys started selling venison sandwiches at all locations today so went and got one. Huge hunk of medium-rare venison. Not too crazy about the sauce though. Would be better with horsey sauce instead.

Can't you get it on the side? Or if you dine-in, from squeeze bottles? That's what they're famous for.

Yeah, if I order another one will definitely order the sauce on the side. It was too much and too sweet for my taste.

So far, barrel aged beers haven't been the type that I crave or think are special. Ever try KBS? No. But this discussion reminded me that I did have North Coast's Barrel Aged Old Rasputin in 2013. And I did like it, to an extent. These were my comments: ++++++++++++++++++ It had a combination of imperial stout, and a sour ale. I don't like sour beers, from what I've tried. But this was interesting. I liked it. I'd still prefer Alesmith's Speedway Stout over it, and even that was relatively expensive ($13 a bottle). That has more of a traditional complex imperial stout taste. But the BARREL AGED imperial stout is worth trying. I wouldn't mind having it again.

Highly recommend it if you're in Founders distribution area. Comes out early March most years.

I like most beer styles, except for red/amber. It's too much in the middle for me. Although I did find 1 or 2 of those that I like.

The beer finder says it's available in my area: foundersbrewing.com/find-our-beer/But I need to call the stores to verify if they have what I want. I don't mind calling store and asking if they have something in stock. But I'll probably save the effort for the Barrel Aged beer, since you said it's the best. I do see their Porter seems easily available.

Word of warning. KBS is kinda difficult to get your hands on. Not all Founders retail stores get an allotment and even the biggest generally don't get many cases.
You pretty much have to make friends with beer store owners before they will sell it to you. Stores around here don't put it out on display. They keep it behind the counter and only sell it to regular customers.

Bump this thread and let me know when. There's a chance I'll try their porter before, but if not, then I'll wait for the KBS. I also see you recommended the Backwoods Bastard. I see it's available, but I'd have to make a journey to get it. Like I said, I don't mind doing those things, but I'll have to see if I'm in the mood for it sometime. And I'll confirm one more time the day of to make sure they can hold it for me.
