So whom got the better bowl ? Depends on how you look at it. IMO the Outback Bowl downgraded itself picking two unranked teams. The Holiday Bowl got two teams (#16 & 18) that match up very well. Plus, San Diego is a really cool city...much better than Tampa. True. Viewed that way I agree. But the teams tweets indicate their displeasure. Everyone wants the status of a New Years Day Bowl. The Big Ten claims to have three tier one Bowl affiliations. 1.The Citrus-out due to the Orange Bowl caveat. Jan 1s 2.The Outback-very close in status. January 1st 3. The Holiday. Many (most) view this as well below the other two. December 28th on a Thursday night. I agree the better teams (at least with better records) play in it this year. But looked at before any teams are selected I agree with those that contend this is a tier 2 Bowl. Before the season I would have been happy with the Pizza Bowl. Times have changed. Also M gets SC. A weaker team than Wash St. M has the better chance of gaining respect by winning a New Years Day Bowl. Wash State is dangerous. Both M and S must win now or face scrutiny.

As I said earlier. MSU got stuck playing a team with the 2nd best pass offense in the nation. There will be pass interference penalties galore. MSU is built to stop the run. Unless they control time of possession they are in deep trouble. S will not get away with the crappy QB passing of the last 3 games.

Citrus $4.2 M Holiday $2.8 M no contest Well., the rich get richer... Speaking of which..I thought even back then that Harbaugh was foolish to take a team that did well but not THAT well to Rome. I think that backfired. Make them earn it. They will appreciate it if they earned it.

Horrible matchup for MSU. They are built to stop the run.Washington State is a top 2 passing team. This could get ugly unless Lewerke mans up for a change. MSU’s only hope is the top two WS WR aren’t playing. I’m not optimistic with this young team.. Would rather be in M’s shoes playing scrubs in prime time. It is what it is.

True. Hangovers. But you know it’s a status thing. M will beat a semi scrub team In a bowl with status. S Will lose to a good teen in a scrub Turnip bowl. Both teams end up 9-4. S loses 2019 recruits. Northwestern scored at will passing the ball in overtime against Michigan State. What did they get? A dozen touchdowns? I lost count. Michigan state does not have a “no fly zone anymore”. They have “everything flies zone”. Lewerke sucks lately. MSU is young and gets killed once things snowball. Prediction: Washington State 31 MSU 17 IMO, Outside of the top few teams this is the worst match up possible. WSU passes the ball no matter what the defense. think MSU can win but it’s unlikely. The weather will be beautiful in California so the elements help WSU. I could have watched the outback bowl but I will not be able to get the Del Monte canned corn Bowl. I had actually planned to watch it this year. This may be a blessing in disguise.

M got another 8-4 team, good for that team but talk about grooving pitches. and most bowls are like that, but that doesn't take into strength of schedule

M got another 8-4 team, good for that team but talk about grooving pitches. and most bowls are like that, but that doesn't take into strength of schedule It’s B.S. But honestly if I was in charge of a Bowl I would get the best draw possible. Their purpose is to make money. They only care about the level of competition if it helps make bux. They are private enterprises restricted in a couple ways. M has more fans in Michigan and worldwide. People are bandwagoners and adopted them during their extended glory years. Case closed l. That’s why I believed months ago until I got talked out of it. Somewhat. Never really believed it wouldn’t happen. It is what it is. Sparty got screwed, Not a personal thing. I don’t know if it would really make a difference. Sparty had a great shot vs. Oregon. If they lose to W State everyone will say “see. They didn’t deserve a better bowl”. If they win it will be like “Oh, they won by a FG? When was the Quaker Oats Capn’ Crunch Bowl held? Well, good job. But M won by 20 so...” it isn’t M’s fault. Harbaugh didn’t campaign i believe” Dantonio’s dig was likely aimed at M but it should’ been aimed at the Outback Bowl. All S can do is boycott their restaurants. FWIW. The only way S can get redemption is if they best a team better than M’s opponent and M loses. I don’t see either happening. M- 34 O- 19 M may put up 40 plus. Then again I keep overrating them. But even Vegas has M heavily favored. M had a pretty good year other than losing to all rivals and heavyweights. They were expected to be a playoff team but got a very nice consolation prize. A Jan 1 Bowl without beating a team with a winning record. Go figure. Harbaugh will have them ready!

A 10-win season is a tremendous accomplishment considering last year's results along with how young this team was.

The next two years could be really good! L J returning is huge. 42-17. I’m pretty sure I predicted that score. *cough*. Great win. Great coach. I’m proud of Sparty.

Great for Sparty and the B1G ! Watch M fall on their face ! M will spank S. Carolina. 28-7 is my guess. I would be stunned if they lose. The B1G is 3-0. Penn and w may lose but at worst the conference should go 6-2. A sweep is possible. O, M, and NW should all win. I actually feel really good about that S win even though it wasn’t a NYD one. But in fairness, W State was missing their QB, 2 best WR, and best defensive player for a half. But a big program win validating their surprising season.

It's so rude M isn't even in top 25 I had no idea M had this much pull but it seems like they were on nat. TV 4 of the first 6 weeks this season That’s true but they didn’t earn it. They were given a high ranking before the season began. They beat Florida, which wasn’t very good as it turned out then beat scrubs. Once they started playing B1G teams they lost to every one with a winning record. Maybe they will be really good next year. Beating South Carolina will be a feel good win but meaningless. Win and they will be gifted a high ranking next year. Maybe even above Michigan State. If they lose, they will still be getting a good ranking in the top 25. Rankings before a season begins are messed up and unfair. But they are fun for everybody except the teams that have to start out unranked and work twice as hard to get ranked. Names that begin ranked have a lot more room for error. Michiga around Michigan states ranki Michigan was hanging around Michigan states ranking all year and did not even beat a winning team. Alabama would not have been in our playoff game if they did not start at the top before stepping onto the field.
