Are you guys participating? It is like the contest I ran at the forum. There are brackets and seeding. It is for the greatest athlete and Detroit history. No matter what I’m going to keep Voting Isaiah Thomas. I’m also leaning toward guys in my area although I did for some older ones. There are some good upsets brewing. It is set up like the March madness.

Thanks. I played. I thought it would include more sports, from your first post?
There were only Tigers.

I don’t think so since the next round is Monday. Did you use my link? Maybe my link just is used up? If so, can you try going directly to the Free Press sports page? I had a bit of trouble finding the voting. You’ve got to scroll a ways under the article.
After you vote on one spot you need to scroll back up to right above the contest and pick the next sport each time.

Caveat: I leaned heavily toward players who played in my day and age ( in essence, two centuries after Wood’s date of birth...so around the time my friend Ben almost got electrocuted flying a kite).
Tigers-Kaline and Cobb (asshole and before my day but still...)
Lions- Barry S. and Calvin J.
Pistons-Isiah and Lanier
Red Wings- Yserman and Lidstrom
Yours?

I do not remember Billy Sims on there. I would’ve voted for him if I would’ve noticed or if he had been on there. He would be in my top two also. Dumars before Isaiah? Dude… ? I think Isaiah was the greatest athlete we had. Well, perhaps somebody was more skilled But he was loaded with talent and he had the biggest impact IMHO.

Being such a humble person myself, I relate to Joe D (the player, not the GM). I loved Isaiah, too. I'm going to replace Ty Cobb with Lou Whitaker as my #2 Tiger.

Billy Sims was awesome. Unfortunately, injuries caught his career short. He went to the Pro Bowl each of his first 3 seasons.

Billy Sims was awesome. Unfortunately, injuries caught his career short. He went to the Pro Bowl each of his first 3 seasons. I think Billy Sims is alk but forgotten. He was awesome on some so so teams. I remember going to a Vikes game and dreaming of ihim makng a long run to the end zone where I was sitting and it actually happened just as I dreamed it. IIRC 20–30 yards. My favorite Lion forever because I watched them less during the Barry age. Loe Whittaker was almost as god, or the same or better than Trammel. He was snotty to reporters, allegedly, so this is their petty vengeance. Or was it a racial issue? I dunno, Trammell is pissed about the HOF snub on Lou and feels they should have gone in together. I do too. I never really appreciated Dumars like I should. With guys like Zeke. Mahorn, Lame, and Dennis. He went about his job quietky. He had a killer FT streak. He had the most class but I wouldnt have shook the Bulls hands either. They gave us no respect and I despised them. Maybe they beat the injured Lakers for a ship but were screwed the previous year on Lames “foul”. . His dad passed right befire a playoff game. They considered not telling him but can’t remember of they did. But be made sime incredible shot. Afterwards, zeke said something like “That was his Dad who made that shot. What a personable and great ream!! Then they beat Drexler after splitting in Detroit. Drex said it wasn’t coming back to Detroit. They always lost in Poerland maybe ten years straight. Clyde was correct. It ended in Portland when Detroit awept Three games straight’ hahaha!
